I have some aquarium charcoal is that the right stuff? i want to try to make one like that for my froglets to get them out faster and easier. How long does it take for the springs to get established with that method? and what would be the best way to get them into that type of culture seein how they are so small and always in or around the dirt.

There are bags of regular 100% lump charcoal, they have large chunks instead of small pieces that work well, with the large pieces the springs gather at the top and you can blow them into the Viv to feed them to your frogs.

The cultures as described there will produce continuously over a very long period if you do not over feed them.
Only sprinkle enough brewer's Yeast over the colony as if you were putting pepper on your egg in the morning- a very small amount once every week. you will harvest millions of springtails that way.
If you add too much yeast you will see mould forming on the everfeed and then you can cut back the amount.
