Default Our new project!!!!

Since our azureus are thriving well, and we just got one hell of a good deal on craigslist.. we are venturing into making a very large scale display piece. Behold the 180 gallon tank!! it measures out to a whoping 6x2x2!!! we are so excited! just did a leak test on it and all goes well. now to clean it up. Acrylic scratches easily! anyone have remedies?? Wish us luck and stay tuned for a delightful over the top vivarium build!

Just get some acrylic scratch remover kit and follow directions. It will be as close to new when your done as you can get. The only thing you can do is becareful when putting stuff in it, but wood and stuff shouldn't be to bad as far as scratches.

our current plans for the background are to use exoweb, throw some net cups up, than foam it all up and shave.. than going to make a ton of roots. seen a few blogs with unreal root structures. Gonna go for an all natural looking river bank. Going to take our time with this monster

What are you going to put in it? I know D. Leucomelias are good group frogs and are very bold.

Default Update #1

Alright. so after a bunch of work cleaning the tank, we finally started the building process..

The false bottom was made using pond filter sheeting. it is 2 feet wide and 4 feet long. covered in garden weed blocker of course. Than I spray foamed a ledge to seperate the water area from land and foamed the entire background than covered with a silicone/xylol mix to thin it. Used that recipe from another build i read on another site. Xylol is a non toxic thinner. it evaporates completely and does not alter the effect of silicone. Made spreading the silicone with a paint brush so much better. Here are a couple shots of the tank so far while its outside and airing out the scent of silicone. and some vines I made. So far we have about 10 vines in the tank, but plan on making about 15-20 more to cover the entire background. kinda like how Raf did his except we're not using pvc. Check out the progress and hard work from my lady and I! again this tank is a 180 gallon 6x2x2. Going to most likely be the new home of our azureus. Has 2 water falls setup in the right side of tank. Hopefully they will just trickle flow though.

I am hoping insane will be the common word choice for this. lol. I just ordered my misting nozzles from marty, and i have a light set for it. so now to decide if i am going to order ABG soil or just use zilla jungle mix. Anyone have input on soil choice between the two?
