Coincedence or not, I put a dying fly jar into my tanks with some baby RFB Basti's to get some mites going. A huge number of mites migrated into this tank which had a huge infestation of small rams horn snails. I have moved 2 or 3 more end of cycle jars that have also added mites, in the last few days I have noticed that almost every snail has disappeared. Is it a coincendence that the snails food supply is gone and the population has crashed or have the mites been eating the snails? This tank was inundated and now I have trouble finding 1 snail. Anyone have any experience with snails and mites?
Do not leave an open dish of beer. Use an old cream cheese type container. Cut holes large enough for the slugs yet small enough to keep out the frogs.
do you cut the holes in the sides or in the top--to avoid having the frogs get in???
