Over a period of time I have seen what has become a small mark on one of my Phlylobates Terribilis become what appears to be based on my research a serious case of nose rub. The whole front nose looks like a bruise that won't heal and whenever it starts to gets reinjured whenever he/she eats. Based on what I have read so far there are medications for this but I have also seen some individuals indicate that neosporin does practically the same thing. My question is how exactly to apply it. Despite everything my guy/gal is very alert and I am worried that trying to catch the frog and hold it down could stress it out. If anyone has had any experience with medicating frogs please let me know. I'm definitely willing to go to a vet but wanted to check here first as I don't know of any local vets that specialize in exotics.
Hi James,
Contact Dr. Frye, I am apprehensive about giving veteranary treatment or advice since I am not a Vet.
I will tell you there is a specific med for nose rubs for amphibians that works better than neosporin.
You are welcome. : )
The terribs are very sensitive alot of breeders will only ship juvies.
I have been told they are also sensitive to extreme temp changes as well.
They are worth the extra care, awesome frogs.
Please post some pics when all is well.
