Default Habacrete alternative?

I know its been discussed on several boards but has anyone had any luck coming up with an alternative?? I would love to get my hands on some habacrete but lets face it, thats not gonna happen. So What are my other options without having to do vinegar baths and what not?

This is the best article I've seen out there.

Thank you glenn. I just recently found another site terra5designs vivarium mortar.. Dunno how well it would work or heard anything about it yet, but its pretty spendy to just "try" might end up doing our 40 vert with clay again. I do love the fact that stuff just roots into it with such ease. Sure beats foam and carving and adding net cups. So time consuming lol.

Welcome!

I haven't heard of that site. I'll have to check it out. I like clay too, but I do all my larger displays the hard way. lol

BTW I saw a post on DB not that long ago where a guy used foam (Carved up real nice) and added clay over that. It looked fantastic!

1 year later, multiple fail viv attempts and finally got the hang of it. a trio of azureus on hand and 4 varadero's coming tuesday.. Woot!! just painted the outside of a 40 breeder black for visual appearance and waiting on making a decision on how to make the vertical kit. sigh..to much time not enough money or brain power

Don't feel bad. My first viv had plastic plants.

I ripped down the first 5 real vivs I built...
