Default Food size?

So my tads morph out successfully, but I was wondering if I am hindering their process.

I give them some sinking tadpole bite things that are probably twice the size of a period (.) (if you didn't know what a period was) and I drop in a spirulina stick thing like the size of a skinny tic-tac and then I also use fish flakes. I crumble up the fish flakes a little.

But I was thinking that all the food will break down in size as it sucks up the water. But since the mouths of the tads are so small, should I be breaking this stuff up with a mortar and pestle?

What does everyone else do?

I stopped using tad bites a while ago, have been using tropical fish flakes (grinding them up as well), spirolina and there is another tropical fish food that comes in pellets that are smaller than tadpole bites.
