Hello all, has anyone ever had E. anthonyi lay in coco huts or film cans, just rearranging my group of E. anthonyi viv and wonder if it's just a waste of space that I'm taking up using the coco hut if they are never going to use it anyway. The care sheet here does mention anything about coco huts.
My house mate has a breeding group of E. Tricolor, and he uses multiple cocohuts. There are 5 coco huts in the viv, one for each male. They all have a shallow dish of water with some java moss. although the eggs aren't always layed in the hut, the males always transport the tads into one of the huts and into the dish of water. His group of 5.1 has produced over 50 froglets within 6 months.
I would say film canisters seem like more of a waste than the coco huts!
Mine never use the huts, IME, they prefer large leaves to deposit eggs...
Yes, lots of large leaf litter is essential. They do like to lay amongst the leaf litter. My house mate uses a 40 breeder with some large twisting wood and a ton of leaf litter - the entire bottom of the enclosure is covered with it.

I meant live leaves such as alocasia, maranta, etc..
