What is a good homemade media that works on all kinds of FFF and doesn't smell too bad? Production is not an issue, I am only going to have 2 Leucs, maybe a few froglets if I get 1.1 and they breed. Also, do mites just kill your FF, or are they bad for your frogs?

I use the recipe on Understory Enterprise's website and it doesn't stink at all. I started using SuperFly by Repashy, loved it, then the stink started so I'm back to home made. The mites will lower production but won't destroy a culture. I just ignore them for the most part.

Yes I noticed the Repashy Super Fly did stink. Also it cultures fast but does not last as long as my home made media.

Which is why I have no flies! I came back from the hospital after giving birth and my cultures were all toast. Smelled to high heaven too, hubby was not happy about it.

It's great. Except for the stink. I can handle the short production as long as I knew about it before being hospitalized! The stink, nooo.

Huh...I don't find it smells at all. Maybe my sniffer is broken.

Seriously Glenn? How old are they when you toss them? They don't smell for a good 4-6 weeks and then whoa look out. Smells like rotten death.

I toss mine after 28 days. Trying to outrun the mites...
