HI! I have this problem with my fruit flies. When I look at them they are all still. But when I pick them up to feed my frog, they all start moving. Are they cold? I just had a cold snap where I live and could this have affected it? This would also explain why I had to wait so long for it to produce. I put them near a small heat pad just in case. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

How cold is your house? I get my best production between 75-80F.

I don't believe it ever gets colder than 65F. My tank hovers around 72F though.

Try putting the cultures on top of the viv (if you have a lighthood) - should see some better results

I don't have a lighthood on top of my tank. But it seems wrapping it in a heat pad worked. The culture is booming today.
